Decisions [D4H] the Multi-Award Winning Emergency Response Team Management Software is proud to announce Esri as our new mapping partners. The crew at [D4H] are delighted with the move to the Esri ArcGIS Online platform as we believe it will offer you an improved service and allow us to build-out far more advanced mapping features in the near future.

So what will our new maps offer after the first release? At first glance the new map is much the same as previously; appearance, navigation and dropping a pin on the map works in a similar fashion as before. We’ll be building out the ArcGIS platform over time, but we do have a few nice new features immediately available such as:
Open Street Map - A new extremely detailed and editable layer. Updated twice a year with content you can contribute towards through the Open Street Map project. It’s a bit like Wikipedia for maps, so if your area hasn’t been mapped in detail yet, take your GPS out with you next time and start logging data for them.

World Street Map - New Esri Layers and Map Tiles including providing a comprehensive worldwide street map with highway-level data for the world and street-level data for the United States; much of Canada; Japan; most countries in Europe; parts of Asia; Australia and New Zealand; parts of South America including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Venezuela; and parts of Southern Africa including Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa, and Swaziland. Here’s a sample of how it compares to the current Bing maps for just west of Hastings in New Zealand.

World Satellite Imagery - Includes 15m satellite imagery for the world and high-resolution (1m or better) imagery for the United States, Great Britain, and other areas around the world. Here’s a comparison to Bing.

World Topographic Map - Giving you exceptional relief information. Compiled from best available sources; includes boundaries, cities, water features, physiographic features, parks, landmarks, transportation, and buildings. Updates are published monthly.

There’s a few more surprises in there too, and huge things to come. The Esri ArcGIS Online mapping platform lets us bring [D4H] into the next generation of geographic information systems. We’ll be upgrading all accounts over the next 24 hours.
