Transport systems are constantly growing to cope with population demands, creating greater complexity and an increased risk of incidents. The increase in incidents along a transport network is inevitable and it's now mission critical that these incidents are tracked, sorted and analysed for useful statistical feedback.
Service improvements can be seen from targeting prevention. Reducing network downtime and increasing traveller safety should be the first priority for transport based emergency response teams. This applies to accidents on the underground, metro, trams, rail, light rail, highways, roads, motorways, ports, harbors, and tunnels.
It's incredibly difficult to track and identify incidents on a transportation network using custom spreadsheets and databases. All transportation networks have areas with higher than average incidence rates or 'accident black spots', however it is often difficult to provide solid cases when building an argument to make improvements to a section of a transportation network.
With the right data, displayed in an easy to read format this task can be made a lot easier.
